3 problems we see (and how we solve them)

01

Your Software Won't Show You Profit.

Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan — they schedule the work. Not one of them can tell you which job, truck, or service line actually pays.

We fix it: we wire your field software into QuickBooks so every job feeds one set of real numbers.

Accounting for HVAC contractors — technician servicing a heat pump
02

Your Books Are Disconnected From the Field.

QuickBooks sits off on its own, telling a story nobody reads until tax time — while the money gets made and lost out on the jobs.

We fix it: we rebuild your chart of accounts around how a trades business actually runs — labor at true burdened cost, expenses tracked by job, truck, and service line.

Accounting for home services contractors — contractor reviewing an estimate with a homeowner
03

Revenue's Fine. Margin's a Mystery.

After the office, the trucks, the insurance, and your own pay come out — what's your real margin? If you can't answer cold, you're guessing.

We fix it: benchmarked monthly reporting shows your margin with context — against your industry, the gold standard, and your own past.

Accounting for roofers — roofer working on a shingle roof

This isn't bookkeeping as you know it.

Why Tradewright Exists

Tradewright CPA was built for contractors who are generating real revenue but can't see where the money is actually going. Most home services operators I've worked with are sharp businesspeople. They know their trade. What they don't have is a financial system built to show them job-level profit, and that's the gap Tradewright was built to close.

Growing up, a handful of my friends' dads were home services contractors. Flooring, plumbing, HVAC guys. I watched their businesses grow over the years, and I watched what that growth bought them. The snowmobiles. The cabin. The boat. Vacations they actually took. These were guys who worked with their hands, built something real, and gave their families a good life doing it.

That stuck with me. I respected those guys. They weren't given anything on a silver platter. They built it.

Years later, after I'd spent my career in tax and accounting, that respect turned into a focus. I studied the home services industry in depth. I learned what separates the contractors who struggle from the ones who scale. Job costing, cash flow, taxes, pricing, systems. What actually works and what doesn't. That research became Tradewright CPA.

Before Tradewright, I founded and ran a CPA firm that specialized in helping business owners pay less tax using smart strategies. I grew that firm and sold it for a healthy seven-figure valuation. After that, I acquired and merged two Montana-based CPA firms with a partner and helped build a full-service accounting and tax practice. Once that firm could run without my day-to-day involvement, I stepped back to start Tradewright.

Today, Tradewright CPA exists for one reason. To help home services contractors make more money, keep more of it, and run stronger businesses. I don't just understand accounting and taxes. I understand the trades, how these businesses work, and where they get stuck.

That's why Tradewright was built.

The clock starts the day we get access to your systems. It stops on any day we're waiting on you for answers or access, so the math stays fair on both sides. If we blow past 30 days and the delay is ours, you get 100% of the Baseline fee back.

We're not here for a one-time fee. We're here for a long-term relationship, and that only works if the Baseline earns it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What software do you work with?
Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan, and we're just as comfortable if you're still running the business on spreadsheets. The framework doesn't hinge on which tool you use. It hinges on wiring whatever you've got into books built for a $1M–$10M trades business, so you can finally see profit by job and by truck.
What exactly do I get in the Baseline project?
Your field software connected to QuickBooks, a chart of accounts rebuilt for how a trades business runs, labor loaded at its true burdened cost, spend management that tracks expenses by service line, truck, or job, and benchmarked reporting that shows profit with context. A financial system, wired up and working, in 30 days, and it's yours to keep.
Do you replace my bookkeeper?
Only if you want that. The Baseline builds the system; who runs it month to month is your call. Some clients hand it to us. Others keep their bookkeeper, their office manager, or their spouse on QuickBooks, now working inside a system that actually shows profit. We'll talk through the right fit on the call.
How is this different from what my bookkeeper already does?
A bookkeeper records what happened inside the system they're given. Most contractors' systems were never built to answer "which job made me money," so nobody can answer it, and that's not the bookkeeper's fault. We rebuild the system itself. Then anyone can run it.
I already have a CPA. Why would I need you?
Most CPAs file your return and hand back a year-end P&L. That tells you what already happened, months too late to act on. We build your books to show you, every month, where you're making and losing money while you can still do something about it. Plenty of clients keep their CPA for filing and bring us in for this.
Where do the tax savings come in?
After the Baseline. The tax strategies that save real money need sound books underneath them, and most contractors' books can't carry that weight yet. Once your system is set up, we propose a tax plan and the implementations that fit: entity strategy, amended returns, cost segregation, payroll setup. That's a separate engagement, priced on its own, and the Baseline is what makes it possible.
What if it takes longer than 30 days?
If the delay is on our side, you get your money back — 100% of the Baseline fee. The clock starts when we get access to your systems and pauses on any day we're waiting on you, so the deal stays fair in both directions.
What does it cost?
A fixed bid, given on the call once we understand your setup. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices. We'll always be upfront about price before you commit to anything.
What happens after the Baseline?
You choose. Once the system is live, we propose what comes next: ongoing monthly accounting with us, a tax plan and the implementations that come with it, and each month the one or two moves that grow the bottom line. Or you run the finished system with your own people. The Baseline stands on its own either way.
Do you work nationwide?
Yes. Everything we do is remote, so your location isn't a constraint.
What size contractor do you work with?
We're built for home services contractors roughly $1M–$10M in revenue. Plumbers, HVAC, electrical, roofing, landscaping, garage door, and similar trades. If you're outside that range, reach out anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether we're a fit.

Your numbers should run the business.

You built the business. We help you keep more of what it makes.
